Meet Your Instructor
Jake Duesenberg is a former U.S. Army Infantry Officer and USCCA certified firearms instructor who has trained hundreds of Minnesotans in responsible firearm ownership, self-defense, and permit-to-carry requirements. He has an in depth understanding of Minnesota laws and draws upon his vast experience to provide the best possible training for new permit applicants or those who are renewing.
Welcome to Elite Guardian’s MN Permit to Carry Class. You will learn about the fundamentals of shooting a pistol whether you are a beginner or a novice. We also cover the self defense laws in Minnesota. You’ll get to shoot your pistol on a live fire range at the end of the course with an experienced instructor. Upon completion of the course, you earn a certificate that allows you to apply for a MN permit to carry.
Our in-person course takes a total of four hours, which includes the classroom instruction and qualification on a firing range.

Jake is a great instructor. Knowledgeable about a variety of guns which helps to understand how they all work differently. He incorporated real world scenarios as examples in relation to the information. The range time was structured and easy to follow as I am a novice to shooting. During class he showed how to properly grip the gun and he corrected my grip twice which helped me better aim and get the mucle memory. Great class with nice slides and good information. 10/10 would recommend Jake as an instructor..

Our class and live fire range is at Bald Eagle Sportsmen’s Club at 6557 125th St N, Hugo, MN 55038. Dress for the weather because the range is only partially enclosed. Your time outside will be limited though.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.

Additional Notes from Your Instructor
Please bring a pistol or revolver that you are comfortable shooting and 50 rounds of the correct ammunition for that firearm. If you do not have a firearm, please let me know and I’ll allow you to rent one for the shooting portion of the class. Also, we encourage you to have your own ear and eye protection, but if you don’t, we will have it available.
